Accused Jeffrey Epstein madam Ghislaine Maxwell has hired a “super lawyer” who once represented one of Osama bin Laden’s henchmen, legal papers show.
Bobbi Sternheim filed papers Monday in New York’s Southern District Court to note that she “hereby appears as counsel for Defendant Ghislaine Maxwell” in her sex-trafficking case.
Sternheim’s law firm, Fasulo Braverman & Di Maggio, called her a “recognized leader in the local and national criminal defense bar for litigating difficult and complex cases.”
She is the first — and still only — woman to get the New York Criminal Bar Association’s Award for Excellence in the Profession, the firm boasts on her online bio.
“Bobbi has tried international organized crime and racketeering conspiracies, international terrorism offenses, international telemarketing fraud, capital murder, and interstate transport of pornographic media,” her bio noted, saying she also “holds Top Secret/SCI Clearance.”
Her most high-profile case, however, remains representing for bin Laden henchmen Khaled al-Fawwaz in his 2015 trial over the 1998 bombings of two US embassies in Africa that killed 224 people.
Then-US Attorney Preet Bharara said at the time that al-Fawwaz “played a critical role for al Qaeda in its murderous conspiracy against America.”
Sternheim said she was “disappointed” when her client — bin Laden’s spokesman in London — was convicted on four counts of conspiracy and sentenced to life in prison.
Sternheim has also represented other terrorists, including Minh Quang Pham, who admitted a plot to blow up London’s Heathrow Airport and was sentenced to 40 years in prison in 2016.
She is listed as a “super lawyer” — one of those “recognized by their peers for their outstanding work and commitment to the spirit of the legal profession,” the site said.
“Their knowledge of the law, professional work ethic, and advocacy on behalf of their clients allow them to stand out among other attorneys in the field,” Super Lawyers said.
Sternheim is not Maxwell’s only high-profile lawyer in the team battling to get her off charges of conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse young women.
The 58-year-old British media heiress also hired Christian Everdell, who spent more than a decade as an assistant US attorney for the Southern District of New York — and helped bring down drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.
